The Cheetah Diva 2017 Year In Review

Hello, my Lovelies! Yes, I know...I last blogged in April. It sucks to have had an injury that affected my writing so much that I couldn't do any writing. Well, except for tweeting, I didn't do much writing. Tweeting, if anything, was a stress reliever. Who would have thought that 140 words could break so much tension? Then the tweet character count went up to 280 words! Suddenly, I could tell a whole story! The politics of 2017 actually drove the Twitterverse. It's been, uh, horrific, but I won't make my blog about it. I just can't.  So, moving right along... The doctor told me that by year's end, I would be back to normal. It didn't really work that way. The muscles in my left thumb and hand were tight, and the hand would get very tired. My creative writing career ground to a halt. As much as I worked to exercise it, it was going to do whatever it was going to do and there was no point rushing it.  By December, I could withstand writing for l...

Taking Stock In My Sick and Insane Life

Hello, my Lovelies! It's been awhile since I've blogged, but I've been super/crazy busy. I'm still at the j.o.b. that pays the bills. I mentioned before that I pulled myself off the events schedule at work, but at my last evaluation, my supervisor told me that I needed to do at least one event or do a dealer visit. It's not that I don't like our dealers, but I'd rather not spend an entire day or two or three driving to different dealerships and exploring them in my cheetah pumps with my nails and make up did. If my Field DSM in Misery, er, Missouri will be in St. Louis the week of my vacation, then I'll go and hang with him and do a visit. But for now, I have chosen to go back to Alabama and the Magic City Classic. It's an HBCU event and I really enjoyed my time there with the awesome peeps of Birmingham.  We (the Crew) always say we'll go and paint the town red, hang out with one of the auto coordinators, and really get a good look at B-h...

The Gift of Sanity: Your Cheetah Diva's Year in Review

Hello my Lovelies! It's that magical time of the year; you know...where I love saying, "I'll go into the new year with a renewed sense of optimism and hope that this year will be the best year ever!" You know what happens - the year ends up sucking rotted monkey butt. Well, this year was no different. I went into 2014 happy that things at the j.o.b. that pays the bills were going to get better. They didn't. I went into the year hoping to have my trilogy finally published. I didn't (one book short). I tried to rally the troops for the "We're Not Bitches" thingy. Well, you know... women. I went into the year hoping to be a little bit smaller. I really didn't accomplish that one. Hell, I didn't even come close! I did manage to accomplish a lot, though. While I didn't finish my trilogy this year, I did publish two books, I made it to the Miami Boat Show despite the "Two Inch Blizzard of the Deep and...

Reflections Of You - My Tribute to Mrs. Sabrina Leon Davis

Heart-to-heart time, my Lovelies. When you were young, you were so carefree, you had no worries, and the future was for old farts like your parents. You did cartwheels, played freeze tag, played double dutch, ate junk food until you got sick, played hide & seek, and watched cartoons Saturday morning. In the 70’s, a dollar got you a bag of Doritos, a Pepsi, a Snickers, a SuzyQ, and the leftover was penny candy. The weekends were those magical days when you weren’t chained to a desk in Ms. Richardson’s class for the five days during the week that ruined your life. The summer was freedom from the bondage of education, and you celebrated by going to the pool, cruising the park, Skate King, Six Flags, or otherwise moped around complaining about there’s nothing to do and nothing to watch. You had to be careful about telling your parents you had nothing to do; they’d FIND you something to do!  Having a boyfriend meant that the little punk up the street bought you candy,...

The Prodigal Diva Returns Home and Thoughts of Ferguson

Hello my lovelies! It's been ages since the Cheetah Diva has written a blog post. A lot has happened since the luncheon with my co-workers in June, and besides editing the second book, which was published September 1, 2014, the biggest things that happened to me was my journey to my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri in July. It has been awhile since I've been home for an extended visit, and I was only there for about four days, but they were four of the best days I've had in a really long time. I often brag about the cuisine, the sights, and sounds of my City on the River, and this trip was no exception. The past health issues, the stress, and the forward push to have a successful writing career all took back seats to my journey, as I did the over 550 mile drive from ATHell to St. Louis. I was initially apprehensive; I'm not sure why that is. No, I know exactly why - I expected drama. I have that kind of family. We argue, fight, barbecue, play spades, and not neces...
